The circulation of AVE trains that connect Valencia with Madrid and Barcelona has been cut off
The passage of the Dana is leaving damage of varying degrees “in many points of the railway network,” as acknowledged by the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente. Trains originating or ending at the Valencia Joaquín Sorolla station will remain stopped “until the network situation returns to normal.”
The Madrid-Valencia axis hosts the service of the two Renfe brands (AVE and Avlo), Iryo and Ouigo. A few minutes before 6:00 p.m., traffic had been prohibited between Siete Aguas and Chiva, in Valencia, due to the flooding of the Torrent tunnel. Several high-speed trains have been affected, with the one covering the route between Gijón and Castellón, in Siete Aguas, at 5:21 p.m., and a Madrid-Valencia train at the Albacete junction at 5:54 p.m., being stopped.
Furthermore, the storms that hit the area of Nules (Castellón) have led to the suspension of the train service between Barcelona and Valencia. The interruption was due to the overturning of a truck on the infrastructure between Nules and Les Palmes, on the Sagunto-Castellón route, due to the storms that are hitting the area. The two occupants of the vehicle have been able to be evacuated from the cabin and treated at the accident site by medical means. Firefighters are working to clear the roads.
