In August of this year, the video of a group of armed people in a residential complex in Aurora, Colorado, went viral. The moment captured by a resident was used by Donald Trump and the Republican campaign as an argument to warn about the dangers of “migrant crime”focusing on the Venezuelan community that resides in the area.
The Republican speech focused on convincing that there were gangs like the Aragua Train controlling entire Aurora neighborhoods. Mayor Mike Coffman, a Republican who initially echoed Trump’s remarks, said in a statement before the rally that “concerns about Venezuelan gang activity have been wildly exaggerated.”
The concerns of the Venezuelan community have been increasing before the event that Trump will hold in Aurora this Friday. Many of them have found refuge in the residences of the apartment complex designated by Trump because they do not require social security numbers to live in them.
