A gas explosion this morning caused the collapse of a building on La Albericia street, in Santanderand they are looking for three people who could be inside the property.
According to EFE, sources from the Government of Cantabria and the Santander City Council inform EFE that the incident occurred around four o’clock this morning at number 24 La Albericia Street in the Cantabrian capital and has led to the evacuation of all the buildings near the affected by the explosion.
Eight residents of the damaged property and the adjacent buildings had to be transferred to the Valdecilla Hospital in the city for various reasons.
In the space previously occupied by the building, Santander firefighters continue trying to put out the fire that caused the explosion and from which, after 7:30, significant flames continue to emerge.
The gas supply to the entire area has been cut off and two ICUs and an ambulance have been mobilized, as well as the Santander Fire Department, 112 Cantabria.
Also on the street near the building that has fallen, a field hospital has been installed. At the scene of the event are the regional president, María José Sáenz de Buruaga, the mayor of Santander, Gema Igual, the Government delegate in the region, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, and the counselor responsible for regional Emergency services, Isabel Urrutia.
