Tuscaloosa County enters still searching for its first win of the year. The Wildcats sit at 0-2 after dropping both of their opening games, giving up a combined 106 points while scoring just 27. Offensively, they have leaned heavily on their ground game, averaging 132.5 rushing yards per contest. Running back Kj Williams has been the bright spot, posting 83 yards per game and carrying much of the load. However, the passing attack has yet to get going, with quarterback C.J. Hutchins still without a completion through two games. Wideout Dylan Taylor has managed 31 receiving yards per game, but overall production in the air remains limited.
Defensively, Tuscaloosa County has struggled to contain explosive offenses. Allowing more than 50 points per game puts pressure on an offense that has averaged just 13.5 points, mostly coming in the first half. If the Wildcats hope to stay competitive tonight, they will need a more balanced attack and a stronger showing on the defensive side.
On the other side, Thompson comes in at 1-1 and ranked No. 22 nationally and No. 1 in Alabama. The Warriors opened the year with a tough road loss but rebounded at home with an impressive performance. Through two games, Thompson has scored 60 points while allowing just 30, displaying balance on both sides of the ball.
Quarterback Trent Seaborn has been the difference-maker, putting up elite numbers early in the season. He is averaging 317.5 passing yards per game and spreading the ball to multiple playmakers. Dedrick Kimbrough leads the receiving corps with 78 yards per contest, while Ethan Black has been a reliable scorer, averaging 5 points per game. On the ground, RJ Evans contributes with 28 rushing yards per outing, giving the Warriors just enough balance to keep defenses honest.
Defensively, Thompson has looked dominant, led by linebacker Chance Strown. He averages 9 tackles per game and adds half a sack per contest, setting the tone for a unit that has forced opponents into tough situations. As a team, the Warriors average nearly 100 tackles per game and 1.5 sacks, making life difficult for opposing offenses.
For Tuscaloosa County, tonight is about survival and growth. Facing one of the top programs in the state, the Wildcats will need to find offensive rhythm and limit turnovers to avoid falling behind early. For Thompson, it’s a chance to solidify momentum before a stretch of region play that includes matchups against Oak Mountain, Hewitt-Trussville, and Hoover in the coming weeks.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Warrior Stadium. With Thompson looking to prove why it’s one of the top-ranked teams in the country and Tuscaloosa County desperate for a spark, fans can expect an intense conference battle under the Friday night lights.
