Leticia Colin will be many women in one when playing the mysterious and complex Zélia in Girl of the Moment. In the soap opera that will replace No Rancho Fundo Starting on the 4th, the actress gives life to a villain who is driven by ambition, but who hides the game and is full of layers that are indecipherable at first glance. His characterization evokes Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962) and emanates power of attraction.
“She is a person connected with the things of the world, she likes jewelry and dressing well. Zélia is a very material person, she is a woman of the material world, who believes in power and beauty”, summarizes Leticia.
Zélia appears in the first chapter in some scenes that take place in the 1940s, as the secretary of the main shrew character in the storyMaristela (Lilia Cabral). Her life will take an important turn there, as she will agree to participate in a cunning plot that will separate Clarice (Carol Castro) from her daughter, Beatriz (Duda Santos).
Bride of Maristela’s son, Juliano (Fabio Assunção), Clarice will lose her memory when she discovers that he has a lover and witnesses a tragedy with her rival. The ironed boy’s mother will make a proposal to Zélia: she will offer a deal in which the secretary will pretend to be Clarice’s sister and help her invent a past for the forgetful girl.
Zélia will accept immediately and will become Clarice’s partner in charge of the Magnifique Escola para Moças. With this, she will no longer be a secretary and will become part of Rio’s high society. The soap opera will jump in time and show the characters continuing this farce in 1958.
Zélia is intriguing
Zélia will have married Orlando (Philipp Lavra) and will gain a stepson, Luiz Claudio (Gabriel Milane). They will have no idea of the farce created by Zélia and Maristela. The former secretary, in turn, will live in her fake sister’s house, but her greatest intimacy will be with her “brother-in-law”. Letícia states that the character intrigues her:
He is a character who has many mysteries. I still don’t know everything that will happen. This is very stimulating within a melodrama, within a soap opera structure, all the cards are not marked. So, I think this is a credit to Alessandra [Poggi, autora] and her team, which creates a surprising dramaturgy, which has a plot twist that we like to see, to be surprised by. We feel alive watching it.
Leticia bets that, from the first week of the soap opera, the public will notice one layer and then another. “Then, you will be carried away by this wonderful whirlwind”, he declares.
To compose Zélia, she did a lot of research on the 1950s and, in particular, on Marilyn Monroe. “We have a characterization that evokes her. We have Marilyn as an aesthetic reference, of charm, of elegance, of sexuality, of being a character who emanated this at a time when women had to be educated, know how to develop good dialogues, walking elegantly”, he comments.
