Former football player Jorge Valdivia was arrested this Tuesday morning (22). Idol of Palm treeshe was detained for allegedly committing a “sexual crime”, according to the complaint offered by the Chilean Public Ministry. Investigations are still ongoing. The former athlete “vehemently denies having sexually assaulted anyone.”

He was approached by police forces in the early hours of the morning at his home in the eastern region of the South American country. “This afternoon the Prosecutor’s Office received a complaint of a sexual crime against Jorge Valdivia. He is being researched and the investigation is underway. For the protection of the victim, we will not provide any more information”, says the MP’s note.

According to the Public Ministry itself, Valdivia was formally informed that he was the target of a “report of a sexual crime” and stated that he had “a consensual relationship with an adult woman”.

The complaint allegedly came from a tattoo artist, who met the former player in a restaurant in the municipality of Providencia, in the metropolitan region of Santiago. The information is from the newspaper La Tercera.

They would have agreed to meet at the place to get a tattoo and consumed alcoholic drinks. The woman says she does not remember what happened next, but confirmed to authorities that sexual relations occurred.
