Former child actor Globo and nephew of the director Jorge Fernando (1955-2019), João Rebello was murdered at the age of 45 on Thursday night (24). He was hit by gunfire inside his own car. Known as DJ Vunje, the artist stood out as Juninho in Bebê a Bordo (1988) and Sig in Vamp (1991).
The crime took place in Praça da Independência, located in the center of Trancoso, a tourist destination in Porto Seguro, in the extreme south of Bahia.
According to the Porto Seguro Civil Police, Rebello was alone in the vehicle. Based on the position of his body, he was in the driver’s seat at the time of the attack.
It is not yet known whether the car was stopped or moving when it was shot. The circumstances, motivation and authorship of the crime will be investigated by the police.
Away from the spotlight, João Rebello worked as a producer, DJ and He was also a music video director. He was the son of actress Maria Rebello, brother of actress Maria Carol Rebello and grandson of Hilda Rebello (1924-2019). In September, Jorge Fernando’s sister reported on social media that her children were living in Bahia.
In conversation with Quem magazine, Maria Carol Rebello stated that she was on her way to Trancoso and that she was “not in a position to speak” to the press.
João Rebello participated in several soap operas in the 1980s and 1990s. He played Maneco in Cambalacho (1986) and was in the casts of Baby on BoardDeus nos Acuda (1992), Vamp e Zazá (1997). He also participated in Divertics (2013-2014), a comedy directed by Jorge Fernando.
