The artist Maria Carol Rebello, sister of the former child actor João Rebellomade an appeal on his social networks for people not to jump to conclusions about the boy’s brutal murder, shot dead in Bahia on Thursday night (24). “Stop saying what you don’t know!”, she asked.

After posting a tribute to João, with the message “you are light”, Maria Carol appeared on her Instagram Stories and directly addressed her followers and onlookers with a plea for her brother’s memory.

“I decided to come here to talk, to make this video, to ask, please, for you to have a little compassion for what we are going through. We still don’t know what happened. The police in Bahia are investigating,” he said .

“We are here, giving all the statements, giving everything we can. Please, stop saying what you don’t know, stop saying the things you don’t know”, he repeated.

“My brother was a man of light, he was an honest guy, he was a discreet guy. Please respect our pain. That’s all I can say now”, concluded the actress, makeup artist and tattoo artist.

What happened to João Rebello?

Known mainly for his roles as Juninho in Baby on Board (1988) and Sig in Vamp (1991), João Rebello was shot dead, aged 45, on Thursday night (24).

The crime took place in Praça da Independência, located in the center of Trancoso, the tourist destination of Porto Seguro, in the extreme south of Bahia.

According to the Porto Seguro Civil Police, Rebello was alone in the vehicle. Based on the position of his body, he was in the driver’s seat at the time of the attack. According to witness reports, two men on a motorcycle approached the former actor’s car and shot him at close range.

Earlier, the actor’s mother, Maria Rebello, had stated that the son would have been killed by mistake and explained that criminals had confused the vehicle he was in with another. “My mourning will be eternal,” he wrote.

She commented on a post by Renato Rabelo, host of the podcast Papagaio Falante, who had mourned the DJ’s death and paid condolences to the former actor’s mother and sister, who are also in the artistic world.

“My God, what sad news about João Rebello’s departure! Another act of violence in our country and in a tourist paradise that is Trancoso! No words to comfort the dear Maria and Maria Carol Rebello. I am astonished! God bless and comfort everyone at this very painful moment! My sincere condolences!”, he wished.

In the comments, the actress and director demonstrated her outrage at her son’s death and gave information that had not yet come to light. “Violent land! They killed by mistake, they confused the car! He was living in a city where it seemed like a peaceful life with his wife, Karine. Playing, celebrating with her sweetness. My mourning will be eternal!”, she declared.
