Investigations into the murder of João Rebello (1979-2024) advanced in Trancoso, Bahia. The delegate responsible for the case, Wendel Ferreira confirmed that everything indicates that the former child actor was killed by mistake and two suspects have already been identified by the police. The former interpreter was found inside his own car last Thursday (24), and witnesses indicated that he was the victim of point-blank shots.

The actor’s mother, who worked as a DJ, had already spoken on social media about the possibility that the son was confused. On Saturday (26), the Civil Police of Bahia published a note ruling out Rebello’s involvement in criminal activity.

Two suspects were identified, but their names were not released. On the afternoon of last Friday (25), military police located a motorcycle that had allegedly been used by the suspects of committing the crime. The investigation continues in the tourist district of northeastern Brazil.

“We have already identified them and we are on their trail. The investigations indicate that he was actually killed by mistake”, declared delegate Ferreira.

Desperation and coincidences

Maria Rebello, mother of João Rebello, told Instagram that his son was laid to rest on Sunday (27), the same date that marks five years since the death of his brother, the director Jorge Fernando (1955-2019).

“What happened? The family’s smile suddenly turned to tears! Life is destroying me from time to time… My son went to the market and was mistaken for two bandits! Two bandits with the name of an angel due to the irony of life, according to the police suspects”, she declared, without going into details about the suspects.

Maria Carol, the actor’s sister, asked people to respect the family’s mourning and stop spreading fake news and speculation about Rebello.

“Please, people, stop saying things you don’t know. My brother was a person of light. He was an honest guy, he was a discreet guy. Please respect our pain”, he declared.
