‘Not me’ TV News

[ad_1]

You Mania is full of characters with questionable character, but Iarley (Lucas Wickhaus) is the type who commits the worst sin: he mistreats his own mother, the long-suffering Dhu (Ivy Souza). The candy seller struggles a lot to pay for her son’s college education, and he takes the money and spends it on other things instead of paying for his education. It’s an attitude that not even the trickster’s own interpreter in nine o’clock soap opera and Globo can approve.

“Never defend Iarley, that’s not up to me. What I try to do is justify, understand the reasons why he does what he does. Then, I present what’s there and leave it to the public to draw their conclusions”, summarizes Lucas Wickhaus , in an exclusive conversation with the TV News.

And how does the actor justify the character’s actions? “I see this family that lives in the community, next to the resort, that watches everyone enjoying the pool, the fancy restaurant… And they don’t have access to that life, but they want to get into it a little. It’s unfair to be there side and not being able to enjoy it!”, he says.

From this Tuesday (29th), Iarley’s lack of respect towards Dhu will reach a new level. He will be at Bruna’s party (Duda Batsow) and will be taken by surprise when he finds his mother serving the guests. The boy will not only ask the baker not to talk to him but will also pretend that he doesn’t know her. Upon discovering the truth, the young woman will lecture her new boyfriend.

Despite this crooked start to the romance, Wickhaus believes that the relationship will be positive for his character. “Bruna and Iarley will be a gift in each other’s lives, they will improve each other. It will be a very beautiful meeting for both of them”, he says, who had never worked with Duda. “I saw her in All the Flowers [2022] and I’m loving having her as a companion. She’s an incredible person, a surfer, loves extreme sports… It’s great to record with her.”

From theater to television

Iarley is Lucas Wickhaus’s first fixed character on TV – previously, he had recorded Dona Beja for the Maxbut the serial remains in the platform drawer. With experience in theaterhe has been trying for opportunities at Globo for more than a decade. “Since I was 18, I’ve been testing there, between workshops and artistic support,” he recalls.

“In January, casting producer Dani Pereira sent me a message on Instagram and said that she had thought of me for a role in the soap opera, which she thought was related to me. She also produced Todas as Flores and asked me to audition there, but I already had another contract and it didn’t happen. Approval only came in April. There needs to be therapy to endure so much waiting (laughs)”, jokes the actor, good-naturedly.

A card-carrying novelist, Lucas is revolted by those who think serials are a minor job. “We have to be very proud of our soap operasit’s absurd how many people work to put a quality product on the air. It really is an industry! And it’s ours, it’s Brazilian! I’ve always liked watching soap operas, even though my life has taken other paths, through theater, through cinema independent, at streaming… But I say that everything I’ve experienced up until now has been preparing me to be in a daily soap opera.”

The actor is so excited about his work that he doesn’t even care about it. the audience for Mania de Você, much lower than expected. “I think I can separate this issue well, because it’s not up to the cast to worry about the numbers. I even consume the news, I follow what they write, but I don’t suffer or let it reflect on my work”, he points out.

He believes, however, that the situation will soon reverse — a discussion group pointed out where the plot could improveand the first changes are already beginning to be felt in what is aired daily. “We’re going to come with everything, despite the adversities. It’s a very dynamic story, with suspense, lots of twists and turns. I think it has everything to be successful”, he hopes.
