Exactly one year after the death of Matthew Perry (1969-2023), the actor’s mother broke her silence in an emotional interview. Writer Suzanne Morrison spoke to the network’s Today Show NBCand remembered the last conversation he had with his son. According to her, the eternal Chandler of Friends (1994-2004) seemed to “predict” his own death.

Suzanne said Perry told her shortly before he was found dead, “I love you so much, and I’m so happy to be with you now.” “There was an inevitability to what was going to happen to him next, and he seemed very sure of it,” the writer recalled.

“But he told me: ‘I’m not afraid anymore’. And that made me worried,” Suzanne highlighted in the interview. “I’m a lucky woman. But I had a flaw, a problem that I couldn’t overcome. I couldn’t help him,” she lamented.

Suzanne’s Today interview also featured her stepfather, journalist Keith Morrison, and her sisters. Matthew PerryCaitlin, Emily e Madeline.

The last one even said that she didn’t know if the celebrity was aware that he had suffered a relapse into drug use — he died due to acute effects of ketaminean anesthetic substance, and five people were indicted for their involvement in the tragedy.

“What I hope, and I think the agencies involved in the investigation also hope, is that the people who supply these drugs that can kill people understand that they are in the crosshairs. It doesn’t matter what your professional credentials are, you are going to fall,” snapped Keith Morrison.

Suzanne said her son would be proud to see the affection his fans feel for him, something Perry wasn’t always aware of. “He was shocked by the attention he received on his book tour. He had no idea and then he couldn’t stop talking about it: ‘Some people still like me,'” he recalled.

She also realizes that the love continues with visits to the cemetery where he was buried. “Whenever I’m there, there are people who come to see him. It usually goes away after a while, but not with him. Fans leave very kind letters for him. It’s unbelievable,” said his mother.
