A month and a half after the premiere, You Mania has not yet managed to reverse the crisis at Ibope. The brochure of João Emanuel Carneiro was seen less in its first six weeks than some of the biggest fiascos of Globo –like Um Lugar ao Sol (2021), which to this day occupies the position of worst average audience of a nine o’clock soap opera.

The 36 chapters shown so far have an average audience of 21.6 points in Greater São Paulo. The worst result (15.4) was recorded on October 11, when a blackout in the metropolitan region caused with the production being watched less than the rerun of Alma Gêmea.

Disregarding external interference, the worst audience for Mania de Você was recorded on September 28, when it had 18.4. The result is already below the negative records of Reborn (2024), which had 19.9 on a Saturday; and of Earth and Passion (2023), with 20.6 on a Friday.

The numbers are even more expressive when compared to Travessia (2022), which is considered the biggest failure of Gloria Perez in prime time. In its first month and a half of airing, Brisa’s story (Lucy Alves) had reached an average of 23.3 points.

Considering the same period, Um Lugar ao Sol also did better than Mania de Você, with an average of 22.6 points.

Globo bets on a ‘The Favorite effect’

After holding the first discussion groups, Globo will make new changes to Mania de Você. The serial is considered “very heavy” by viewers heard by the broadcaster, who want more humor —and they approve, curiously, of the villain Mavi (Chay Suede).

According to sources from TV News Behind the scenes, there is still the expectation that Mania de Você will turn things around, just like A Favorita (2008). At the time, Carneiro managed to overcome the public’s rejection with a master move, in which he anticipated the revelation about the true antagonist.

Not by chance, the broadcaster rehired author Vincent Villari to the Mania de Você writing team. The novelist, who was notable for the failed A Lei do Amor (2016), had collaborated with Carneiro on A Favorita, in addition to the successful Da Cor do Pecado (2004) and Todas as Flores (2022).
