Tia Salete, character from No Rancho Fundorepresented a milestone in the career of Mariana Lima. The actress had never played a comic character in this way, with a country, northeastern aspect and with all the details of her career. She says that she added a certain madness to the role, and that this style worked with the viewers.

“Aunt Salete was a surprise from the beginning. She was a small, country character, with an accent, comical, but serious. I had never done anything like her, but I decided to take on the challenge”, says the actress, in an interview with TV News.

Mariana Lima, 52 years old, has an established career at Globo. She debuted in 1996 and soon stood out in the role of Liliana in O Rei do Gado (1996). He also acted in works such as Cordel Encantado (2011), O Rebu (2014), Sete Vidas (2015) and Onde Está Meu Coração (2021), with more serious or dramatic characters.

To play Aunt Salete, a character with whom she had moments of comedy and drama, she prepared diligently: “I studied references, I had a strong and immediate connection with the [diretor artístico] Allan Fiterman, and she [Salete] He was born with very strong characteristics. It also came a lot from the preparation with Renato Linhares and Gabriel Rochlin”.

I placed in her a kind of madness, delirium, as a response to her past. So it grew and grew, the author liked it, the public liked it, and I became more and more certain that this was the way to go and I gained a whole story that didn’t exist. I was very happy doing it.

“[O maior desafio é] Comedy on TV. I had already done a type of comedy with [autor] Jorge Furtado in Doce de Mãe [2014] and in the theater, but not the country comedy, a little more torn, with an accent, like that of [autor de No Rancho Fundo] Mario Teixeira. The text, which is brilliant, helped a lot”, adds Mariana.

The actress is already in the mood to say goodbye to her aunt Salete and revealed how she would like the public to remember the character: “I don’t think she should leave a message, but rather, memories. I would like them to remember her as this brat who had a terrible past and overcame with family support.”
