Character of Igor Fortunato em No Rancho FundoZé Beltino is very nice — often, too nice. Because of his naivety, he fell into trickery and did not see reality as it is in several situations. His interpreter argues that the character’s purity is a virtue, as opposed to the large number of scams applied in Brazil today.

Throughout the six o’clock soap opera from Globo, Zé Beltino was constantly made a fool of. Blandina (Luisa Arraes) took advantage of his innocence, forced a marriage (which he left as a virgin) and manipulated him so that the boy would pass his share of the family lands into her name. Fortunato knows that his character suffered for his way of being, but he thinks his purity is a great quality.

“I find this charming. We live in a world where we are taught, every day, that being smart, deceiving others and corrupting yourself is what is worth it. It seems that being a ‘stupid’, being left behind, is being a fool , slow. But Zé Beltino represents the exact opposite of that. He brings kindness, this place of truly believing in people. He doesn’t have evil within himself to see that of others”, says the actor in an interview with. TV News.

“I believe that Zé Beltino is an extremely necessary character in this moment in which we live, because he makes us reflect on how, as a society, we are becoming suspicious and malicious”, he adds.

We are always doubting each other, always on alert, afraid of being deceived, especially in a Brazil full of scams and cheating. Zé Beltino, with all this purity, almost seems like a poetic delirium, a necessary aesthetic so that we can reflect on our own purity, our ethics and our good side.

Zé Beltino was Igor Fortunato’s first character in a soap opera, and he confesses that he was nervous at the beginning of the work. “In the beginning, I was very apprehensive, mainly because it was my first soap opera. I come from the theater, where I acted most of my life, so I was afraid of getting the tone wrong, of not being able to adapt to the audiovisual format. But eventually As we recorded and, especially, when the soap opera premiered and I could see the result of what we were creating, I gained more confidence”, he says.

The 31-year-old actor believes that Zefa Leonel’s son (Andrea Beltrão) also managed to mature during the story, especially after the great disappointment he had with Blandina.

Now, Beltino is heading towards a happy ending alongside Dracena (Nina Tomsic), and Fortunato says he is satisfied with the direction taken by the character and the message he leaves to the public.

“I think Zé Beltino’s ending has already been sorted out, it pleases me a lot. It’s the end of a matured Zé Beltino, more peaceful and loving. The way he believes in people and the world is very special. His purity is the great legacy that he leaves, and I believe that I fulfilled this mission of showing how innocence and kindness can save us from so many cruelties and tricks”, declares Fortunato.
