‘Coward’ TV News

[ad_1]

Controversial good guy You ManiaRed (Nicolas Prattes) has divided the public with their less-than-good attitudes towards nine o’clock soap opera and Globo. A character who felt the protagonist’s ambiguity firsthand is Filipa (Joan of Verona), which he abandoned in Portugal when he wanted to return to Brazil to meet Viola (Gabz). Even the physiotherapist’s interpreter admits that the caiçara’s situation is not the best: “He was a coward with her.”

“Each character has their reasons, but Rudá didn’t play honestly there, he ran away from his issues, it was very cowardly. And Filipa feels this abandonment”, explains Joana de Verona, in an exclusive conversation with the TV News.

To make matters worse, the character had just revealed to her boyfriend that her mother had cancer. “From Filipa’s point of view, she felt disrespected. I think a lot of things go through a person’s head when another disappears like that”, speculates the actress.

Although Filipa was sidelined with Rudá’s return to Brazil, the physiotherapist will still return to the newspaper João Emanuel Carneiro. “He ends up making contact with her, at a later point, which I’m already recording. Then she goes after him and stays until the end of the soap opera”, says Joana.

The actress just doesn’t say if there is any chance that Filipa will forgive the caiçara and consider a reconciliation. “A soap opera is an open work, we never know how it will turn out. What I know is that she will show more of her personality, acting and reacting within each context. If she stays with him? I don’t know. I don’t think so (laughs )..”

The soap opera in Portugal is also open, but a little less. I don’t think there’s that much of a twist. But I think the process in Brazil is funny, because it forces you to be present and attentive to every scene. You have to find a way to justify the character’s transformations, you have to study and build a whole range of emotions and actions. It’s not so different from life, where so much happens without you planning. Life is open, contradictory and overwhelming. And you have no control.

Joana, in fact, is eager to know how Filipa will interact with different characters in Mania de Você –since, until now, she has been restricted to scenes with Nicolas Prattes (with whom she had already been a romantic partner in We were six). “I want to meet everyone, because it’s through your relationship with others that you realize and understand more about your role. I’m curious to see what others do to Filipa”, he speculates.

“As for the actors, of course I want to act opposite Adriana Esteves [Mércia]who is one of the greatest actresses in Brazil, in my opinion. Also with the Ana Beatriz Nogueira [Moema]with the Eliane Giardini [Berta]… And with younger people, I’m curious to learn about their work.”

Brazilian star in Portugal

A top star on Portuguese television, Joana de Verona is Brazilian, born in São Luís (MA), but moved to the country as a child. Even so, blood speaks louder and she strives to work here whenever possible.

“I’ve made many films in Brazil, the Santos Dumont series [da HBO, em 2019]We were six [2019] and now Mania de Você. The theater is missing, which is something I really want. But of course the public in Portugal knows me much more, because I’ve been working there since I was 16, and it’s a much smaller country”, he says.

“But my goal is not to make the whole of Brazil know me. If that happens, great, but the goal is different. Because my work is being done regardless of the country! I don’t think: ‘In Portugal I’m already established, Now I need to conquer Brazil’, you understand?”, provokes Joana.

To make Mania de Você, the actress put her house in Portugal up for rent and found a temporary home in Rio de Janeiro. “It’s been eight months here. But this airlift isn’t a problem for me, I just need to have management. If I’m in Portugal, I have to turn down jobs in Brazil; if I’m here, I turn down roles there. I gave up a soap opera and a ask because of Filipa.

“And nowadays, with the internet, everything is running kind of in parallel. I’m writing the script for my next documentary, I’m going to launch a series in Portugal now, called Azul. And that’s it. I went there in September, on a break. I get on the plane, watch a movie, sleep, and in nine hours I’ll be there.
