Primo Cícero (Haroldo Guimarães) will be the highlight of the penultimate week of No Rancho Fundo. The character will be the victim of a cruel crime, but will come out alive to tell the story. The guy will be shot, “resurrected” thanks to a lucky charm and will even pretend to be dead to fool his tormentors.

Esperança’s father (Andréa Bak) was kidnapped with the help of his own daughter, in a trap set up by Blandina (Luisa Arraes), Marcelo Gouveia (José Loreto) and Jordão Nicácio (Alejandro Claveaux).

However, Zefa (Andrea Beltrão) and Tico (Alexandre Nero) will think that Deodora (Debora Bloch) and Ariosto (Eduardo Moscovis) are the minds behind this crime and will confront them.

Upon learning, in this way, that Cicero was kidnapped, Deodora will have an idea. She will meet with Jordão and convince him to kill the native, saying that his death will leave Ariosto in charge of the exploration of the Blue Grotto and will facilitate criminal exploitation there. She will promise a good reward to the henchman, who will comply with the evil order.

In scenes from Tuesday’s chapter (22), Jordão will shoot his cousin Cícero and run away, without stopping to see the body. He will not realize, therefore, that the victim survived the attack.

The shot will hit the reliquary that Cicero received from Militana, his wife who died. This way, the man will be whole and will be able to escape from captivity. He will knock on Zefa Leonel’s door to ask for help and tell her everything that happened to him — the native will not have seen who shot him.

Timbó (Enrique Diaz) and Xaviera (Giovana Cordeiro) will also be at the ranch and will hear the whole story. They will suggest that the family maintain the pretense that cousin Cícero died, to protect his life and also to catch the villains in their tracks. Everyone will agree and create the big lie.

Chapter summaries

Second, 10/21 (Chapter 161)
Zefa Leonel and Seu Tico Leonel confront Deodora and Ariosto about the disappearance of Primo Cícero. Jordão Nicácio and a henchman watch Primo Cícero in his captivity.

Guilherme Tell offers to pay off Caridade’s debts, and Tôim questions the origin of the boy’s money. Marcelo Gouveia and Blandina announce that they will keep Artur and Quinota away from the Blue Grotto.

Ariosto, Seu Tico Leonel and Padre Zezo try to discover the whereabouts of Primo Cícero. Fé and Caridade suffer from their father’s kidnapping, while Esperança is apprehensive. Blandina intrigues Marcelo Gouveia against Artur. Deodora manipulates Jordão Nicácio to attack Primo Cícero.

Tuesday, 10/22 (Chapter 162)
Deodora tries to convince Jordão Nicácio to take Primo Cícero’s life. Artur tells Marcelo Gouveia that Quinota never loved him. Ariosto questions Deodora about her gun.

Jordão Nicácio points the revolver at Primo Cícero, who doesn’t see him. Zefa Leonel discovers a secret message in Fubá Mimoso’s note. Marcelo Gouveia reveals to Artur that Ariosto was the one who ordered his kidnapping. The Leonel family decides to confront Deodora, but Zefa Leonel stops them.

Jordão Nicácio begs Esperança to run away with him. Artur breaks relations with Ariosto. Jordão Nicácio accepts Deodora’s proposal, who gives him Ariosto’s gun with Seu Tico Leonel’s fingerprints. Jordão Nicácio shoots at Primo Cícero.

Wednesday, 10/23 (Chapter 163)
Jordão Nicácio tells Deodora that he made the agreement, and Cira listens. Caridade despairs at the absence of Primo Cícero, and finds Esperança’s tranquility strange. Zé Beltino vents to Dracena about his anger at Deodora.

Father Zezo begs the Leonels not to take revenge on Deodora. Artur accuses Marcelo Gouveia of involvement in the kidnapping of Primo Cícero. Vespertino is suspicious of Deodora’s presence in the cabaret and asks her if she is looking for an alibi.

Ariosto asks Quinota to intercede for him with Arthur. Unaware that Primo Cícero was shot, Blandina and Marcelo Gouveia demand that Jordão Nicácio change the location of his captivity, following Artur’s suspicions. Cousin Cícero arrives at Zefa Leonel’s house.

Fifth, 10/24 (Chapter 164)
Primo Cícero reveals to Zefa Leonel that they shot him, and that he was saved by Militana’s reliquary. Arthur expels Ariosto from his house, and Quinota regrets it. Deodora manipulates Vespertino and kisses him. Jordão Nicácio despairs when he realizes that Primo Cícero was alive, and escaped from captivity.

Esperança asks Blandina for Primo Cícero’s safety. Guilherme Tell confesses to Caridade that he helped Marcelo Gouveia. Upon seeing the weapon at the scene, Marcelo Gouveia believes that they took Primo Cícero’s life and took his body.

Timbó and Xaviera arrive to help the Leonels, and suggest faking Primo Cícero’s death to protect him. Jordão Nicácio insists on running away with Esperança. With the help of Caridade, Artur discovers that Marcelo Gouveia is involved in smuggling tourmaline from Paraíba.

Friday, 10/25 (Chapter 165)
Artur asks everyone to keep secrets about the discovery regarding Marcelo Gouveia. Artur forces Marcelo Gouveia to take him to the Blue Grotto, and Blandina sees the two of them together. Zefa Leonel brings the family together and explains that no one can know that Primo Cícero is in Rancho Fundo. Caridade is thrilled to see her father again. Elias Crisóstomo probes Benvinda about Primo Cícero.

Margaridinha helps Dracena to seduce Zé Beltino. Elias Crisóstomo visits Ariosto and assures his father that he will find out what the Leonels are plotting against him. Aunt Salete takes Father Zezo to bless the cabaret. Xaviera tells Sabá Bodó that the Blue Grotto belongs to the municipality of Canta Pedra. Ariosto introduces Elias to Deodora.

Saturday, 10/26 (Chapter 166)
Deodora reprimands Ariosto for hiding Elias. Artur forces Marcelo Gouveia to explore the Gruta Azul mine. Quinota reveals to Zefa Leonel about the stones stolen from his mine. Elias kisses Benvinda. Ariosto surprises Deodora by dismantling her plan against Primo Cícero.

Xaviera confronts Nivalda and Sabá Bodó, who ends up fainting when she learns that her daughter Jessilaine is against him. Quinota and Zefa Leonel enter the Blue Grotto. Elias gives Ariosto a box of dynamite. Seu Tico Leonel and Timbó set up the false death of Primo Cícero.

Marcelo Gouveia and Quinota feel ill at the Grotto, and Artur and Zefa Leonel decide to leave the place. Dracena and Zé Beltino declare their love, and Blandina attacks her ex-friend. Marcelo Gouveia believes that Primo Cícero is dead.
