The Portuguese soap opera “Sangue Oculto” premiered on Monday night (21), on TV Brasil. The attraction, which airs from Monday to Saturday, at 8pm, after the news program Repórter Brasil, has 235 45-minute chapters.
The minister of the Secretariat of Social Communication, Paulo Pimenta, who attended the first chapter at the Portuguese embassy in Brasília, said that he intends to strengthen and expand the partnership with that European country and other Portuguese-speaking countries, as well as Spanish-speaking nations.
“Today, we are the fifth main broadcaster on open TV in Brazil. This soap opera programming has increased our audience”, said the minister to Agência Brasil. He understands that partnerships with other countries, with the support of TV Brasil Internacional, may involve exchanges of audiovisual products such as documentaries and also journalistic content in a path of integration with other countries.
“We are going to put TV Brasil Internacional on the air. President Lula is unhappy when he arrives in other countries and finds several international channels and not from Brazil”, he added.
For the CEO of Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC), Jean Lima, also present at the event, the attraction guarantees a dramaturgy option that is part of Brazilians’ taste.
“It involves our purpose of expanding TV Brasil Internacional”, he stated. He understands that the partnership with Portugal is an important step. “First through dramaturgy, and then journalism. The ease of the language, the ease of culture also brings us closer together. This partnership is important.”
“We grew up with Brazilian soap operas”
The Portuguese ambassador to Brazil, Luís Faro Ramos, recalled, before watching the first chapter of the soap opera, that the Portuguese grew up with Brazilian plots.
“I remember when we saw the soap opera Gabriela (first version, in 1975). “Now it is a great satisfaction to know of Brazil’s interest in a Portuguese soap opera, which was successful in the country.” The fact that it is shown on public TV, in the ambassador’s opinion, guarantees free and democratic access.
“Occult Blood” was originally shown by Sociedade Independente de Comunicação (SIC), in Portugal, between 2022 and 2023. The drama has an alternative schedule, with an extra showing at 2 am. After airing on TV, the episodes are available for a week on the TV Brasil Play app.
The soap opera is dubbed into the Portuguese spoken in Brazil. The production has drama, romance and comedy. In the first chapter shown yesterday, the heart of the story was already presented, which involves the lives of two twin sisters separated in the maternity ward. They meet again, by chance, three decades later. From then on, secrets from the past can change the fate of families.
The new soap opera replaced the Turkish production “Um Milagre”. Brazilian Luana Piovani is one of the stars of the cast, made up mostly of Portuguese actors. The actress plays the villain Vanda Corte Real, one of the protagonists of the story, in the second phase of the plot. Also Brazilian, Vitória Frate, plays the character in the first phase of production.
