Anyone who expected a different Bahia away from home saw the tricolor repeat its old mistakes and leave the field defeated 3-2 by Vasco, on Monday night (28), in São Januário, in the Brazilian Championship.
Defensively vulnerable, the Bahian team conceded three goals in the first half and even made a reaction, but were unable to secure a draw. After the match, midfielder Everton Ribeiro criticized the team’s performance.
According to number 10, Bahia needs to review what it wants to achieve in the Brasileirão, since if it fails to score away from home it will be difficult to win a place in the Libertadores, the club’s main objective this season.
“We tried, but we entered the game very low, they are competing with us and we conceded three goals in a very easy way. It shows how attentive we were. It’s our fault. We have to review. It’s not because we’re playing away from home that we can play away for a while. We have to review what we want from the championship and change our stance away from home”, he stated.
The defeat left Bahia further away from the G6. Rogério Ceni’s team maintained seventh place, but the distance to São Paulo, which closes the classification zone, is five points.
São Paulo, in fact, will be the Esquadrão’s next opponent, on Tuesday (5), at 9:30 pm, at Fonte Nova. For the duel, the team will not have attacking midfielder Thaciano, who received his third yellow card.
