Voters will not be able to be arrested from this Tuesday (22). The prohibition is in the electoral legislation and is applied five days before the second round of elections, which will be held next Sunday (27).

The rule excludes arrests in the act or cases of arrests determined based on a criminal sentence for a non-bailable crime or failure to comply with safe conduct.

The restriction will remain valid until October 29, two days after the vote.

Next Sunday, 33.9 million voters from 15 capitals and 36 municipalities return to the polls to elect the mayors running for office. There is no second round for the race for the position of councilor.

Voters who are unable to attend the election must justify their absence from voting. Just as happened in the first round, there is no possibility of voting in transit in the second.

On election day, citizens can justify their absence using the E-title app, from the Electoral Court, or through physical points set up by regional electoral courts (TREs) on election day.

The app can be downloaded for free from Apple and Android online stores until Saturday (26), the day before the election.
