The vandals are causing a loss of around R$480 per year to the city of Salvador. The amount is used to restore squares, football fields and monuments that have broken, graffitied and stolen equipment in the capital of Bahia. The municipal secretary of Maintenance, Lázaro Jezler, commented on the matter during the delivery of a field and a square in Mata Escuta, this Friday (25). He asked the population to be more aware.

“It costs around R$40,000 every month to carry out these services. It was worse, before, it was R$45,000 per month. Although we see an advance in awareness there is still a waste of money to replace what had already been done. What we ask the population to take care of, because it is a leisure area for the population itself, it does not belong to the city hall, it belongs to the citizens”, explained the secretary.

In Mata Escura, 200 houses were renovated through the Morar Melhor program and a field with synthetic grass and a square were provided on Rua Direta do Campo. Residents gathered to watch the action and children enjoyed the playground.
