TV Brasil announced on Thursday, the 24th, the production of its first original soap opera. The public broadcaster, an official federal government broadcaster, will receive an investment of R$15 million for the project. The work will have between 40 and 60 chapters of 52 minutes.
The information was released as part of the Seleção TV Brasil notice, launched by Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC), with a total investment of R$110 million in independent audiovisual productions.
With the National Cinema Agency (Ancine), through the Brazilian Audiovisual Development Support Program (Prodav), the notice covers seven thematic lines: children’s, children’s and youth, nature and environment, women’s football, society and culture, production and completion of feature films, and co-production of soap operas.
In relation to the soap opera, the notice does not define a theme, but points out that the production must bring elements of Brazilian culture and society, as is customary in the format, historically “It is important that the proposal dialogue with the tradition of Brazilian soap operas, but without leaving aside innovation”, says the text.
There is still no forecast of when the soap opera will appear on TV Brasil. The project should take a few years to complete and broadcast on television.
