In a second round for the first time in its history, the city of Camaçari will define the next mayor this Sunday (27). Divided between Luiz Caetano (PT) and Flávio Matos (União Brasil), the industrial hub goes to the polls from 8 am to 5 pm. With this in mind, CORREIO gathered information about transport, traffic, security and voting for election day.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION AND TRANSIT

Bus: 6:30am to 9:30pm – Free from 8am to 5pm. There will be no reduction in the fleet.

Intercity transport: 6pm – 10/26 until 11:59pm – 10/27 (free)

Traffic: there will be no changes to the city’s routes – 41 traffic officers will be available to serve the population on the streets.

To guarantee security in Camaçari, 1,463 security force agents, 180 vehicles and 50 video surveillance cameras, 13 of which are facial recognition cameras, will reinforce election day. Civil police, military personnel, technicians and firefighters will carry out escort and guard the ballot boxes, patrol electoral zones and take action to prevent crimes such as exit polls, vote buying and irregular propaganda. The Federal Police will also reinforce the election. According to the newspaper O Globo, the corporation will send the Pronta Intervenção Group, specialized in emergencies and high-risk operations.

The Public Ministry of Bahia (MP-BA) also informed that it will monitor the fairness of the democratic process starting this Saturday (26). The two electoral prosecutors in the Camaçari areas will monitor the ballot box testing and check for any irregularities. The entity’s Support Center for Electoral Prosecutor’s Offices (Nuel) will be on duty at the weekend to receive complaints. The complaint is made through the website of the MP-BA.

For those who do not remember their voting location, it is possible to consult the Superior Electoral Court website (TSE), in the “Where to vote” section, or by registering on the e-title application.

JUSTIFICATIONS AND PENDING PROJECTS

Anyone from Camaçari who did not vote on the first day will only be able to go to the polls if they have explained their absence. For those who did not attend the first round or will not participate in the second election day, justification of votes can be done in different ways.

In the case where the voter justifies his absence on the day of the election, the procedure can be carried out through the e-title application or by filling out a application formwhich can be obtained on the TSE website. In this second alternative, the citizen needs to present the document at tables designated for this purpose in locations publicized by the Regional Electoral Court.

The voter who did not vote on the day of the election, in addition to the application and the application form – in this case a specific post-election form – will be able to justify their absence on the TSE website, through the Electoral Self-Service. The deadline to justify the first round is December 5th. For the second round, the deadline is January 7, 2025.

If the voter does not provide a justification or the TSE does not accept the reasons presented, it will be necessary to pay electoral fines. Through the electoral debt consultation servicee-title or electoral registry offices, citizens can consult and settle pending issues. Payment can be made using a Federal Collection Guide (GRU) slip, card or PIX.

In the worst case scenario, in which the voter does not vote, justify and pay, there are several consequences, such as not obtaining an identity and passport, not participating in a public examination, not being able to enroll in any State establishment, among others.
