A 54-year-old tourist from Minas Gerais drowned on a beach in Ilhéus, in the south of Bahia. He was there with his wife and nine-year-old daughter. The drowning took place in Praia do Jairi, on Sunday (20), according to the Civil Police.

Joel Alves Teixeira was a businessman and lived in Montes Claros, in the interior of Minas Gerais, according to information from TV Bahia. He and his family were staying at an inn near the beach where the drowning occurred.

Joel Alves Teixeira was a resident of Montes Claros, in Minas Gerais. He and his family were staying at an inn near Jairi beach and, after enjoying the morning there, they would return home in the afternoon.

The sea was rough on Sunday and Joel ended up swimming away from the sand until he was unable to return. The body was recovered the same day.

The body was taken to the Ilhéus Technical Police Department and was released yesterday to Montes Claros, where it will be buried.
