The judge of the Court of Justice of Bahia (TJ-BA), Nágila Maria Sales Brito, condemned the president of the Urban Development Company of the State of Bahia (Conder) and former councilor of Salvador José Trindade (PSB) for slander, which consists of falsely accusing someone of having committed a crime.
In the decision, which was preferred this Sunday (20), the judge sentenced José Trindade to 1 year, 4 months and 28 days in open prison. He will also be required to pay a fine.
As reported by the judge in her determination, José Trindade, who was a councilor at the time of the crime, slandered businessman Marcelo Sacramento when the dispute over command of the Yacht Clube da Bahia was taking place.
In a speech to the City Council, Trindade falsely accused – according to the judge – Marcelo Sacramento of committing “crimes of misappropriation and active corruption during his tenure as commodore of the Yacht Clube da Bahia”.
The report sought advice from José Trindade to comment on the court decision, but there was no response until the publication of this article. The space remains open.
When contacted, Marcelo Sacramento preferred not to comment.
