A drug dealer suspected of participating in the burning of a bus in IAPI, in Salvador, was killed by the police this Friday morning (25), in the same neighborhood, reported the Public Security Secretariat (SSP).

The man, who was not identified, was located today in a joint action by the Military Police, which included the participation of the Gêmeos and Apolo battalions, in addition to the 37th Independent Company (CIPM).

The police were carrying out actions to combat organized crime in the town of Nó de Pau, in IAPI, when they came across the drug dealer and other associates. There was an attempt to arrest him, but the suspects reacted and there was an exchange of gunfire.

The suspect was injured in the shooting. He was taken to the Ernesto Simões hospital, where he died. A 9mm caliber pistol, charger, ammunition and cell phones were found with him, police said.

According to the SSP, operations in the IAPI region will continue “indefinitely”.
