After long seasons marked by clean beauty, with loose, natural hair and fresher makeup, the 1980s trend is back with a bang! This new fashion is represented by pop icons, such as Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, David Bowie, among many others, and characterized by makeup in striking tones and lots of shine, with voluminous hair and fringes.

Encouraged by artists considered generation Z idols, who today dictate fashion and beauty hits, such as Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Zendaya, and of course, made viral by TikTok influencers, the trend has been winning over fans with a more expressive look, represented by an audience that wants to stand out, without fear of being bold.

But there are also those who want to express themselves and reveal their bold side, but still don’t feel comfortable adopting 100% this style, which attracts attention wherever they go. If you are one of them, know that it is possible to adhere to the look and adjust the level of boldness, as explained by makeup artist Luiza Santos and hairdresser Sandra Pinke, from Jacques Janine Vila Leopoldina. See the tips below!

Makeup

In the case of makeup, makeup artist Luiza Santos says that it is not necessary to adopt all the elements in a single production. “Start slowly, choosing one or two characteristics that you most identify with, to get used to the look.”

For this, the tip is balance when producing. “If you want to highlight your lips more, for example, choose a bright colored lipstick and outline in a darker tone, include a more pronounced blush and an eyeshadow, following the color palette”, he explains.

Furthermore, the combination of products can also make your makeup look more like a 1980s look. “To highlight your eyes, opt for brightly colored eyeshadows, such as BT Velvet 2×1 liquids, which have an extensive range of blue tones. , green, pink and purple, accompanied by a nude lipstick or even a very open red, but without defining the contour. Another option is to make a combination of metallic eyeshadow and lipstick, for those who don’t give up on shine”, suggests the professional.

Hair

Voluminous hair, bangs and a mullet-style cut is the characteristic look of the 1980s. Today, it has more modern adaptations, which can be used for a more unpretentious version, as hairdresser Sandra Pinke explains. “There are variations, such as cuts shaggy and wolf cut, which bring layers, peaks and bangs, with a messy effect and at the same time lighter and looser than a mullet.”

To join the trend, it’s worth investing in the right hair products. “For everyday life, you can keep your hair natural or give it a more fashionista touch with butterfly piranhas, which were a hit at the time! ProArt has different models, materials and colors. For more sophisticated productions, it is worth investing in products to add more volume, such as Pó Volumador Charming, and thus achieve an even more 1980s look”, he adds.
