Summer is coming and there are already signs. Salvador exceeded the temperature forecast and reached 34°C on Monday (28), according to data from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet). An average of between 23°C and 32°C was expected.

The heat, common at this time of year, has caused complaints from residents. “The gates of hell have opened,” said one resident on social media. The temperature was even the cause of protests until the evening. “Impossible to be happy sleeping in this heat,” he wrote. “Is it sunny now at night?” joked another.

Despite the index, the capital of Bahia is not on the list of the 150 cities in Brazil with the highest temperatures in the country. Salvador appears at 175°. Formosa do Rio Preto, in the Far West, had the highest temperature in Bahia, with 38.8°C, and ranked 15th. Ibotirama (38.2°C) and Barra (38.1°C) are still among the 20 hottest municipalities.

In Brazil, the highest temperature was 40.6°C in Boa Vista (RR), followed by Bom Jesus do Piauí (PI), with 40.3°C, and Campo Maior (40.1°C).

There is no heat wave warning in the country.
