At the meeting there will be an exhibition of dairy products produced with buffalo milk

The XVI Brazilian Bubalinoculturists Meeting takes place in Salvador, from October 30th to November 2nd. The event, promoted by the Brazilian Association of Buffalo Breeders (ABCB), will take place at the Hotel Deville Prime, with a program of lectures, dairy product displays and the Búfalo Tour – visits to buffalo and dairy farms.

At the meeting there will be a display of dairy products produced with buffalo milk, including mozzarella cheeses of different formats, burrata, fresh Minas cheese, coalho cheese, ricotta, cottage cheese, butter, parmesan, cottage cheese and the delicious dulce de leche.

The Brazilian Meeting is the most anticipated by buffalo breeders as it is a time for socializing, updating and exchanging experiences between breeders from all regions of the country. “In Salvador we have the confirmed presence of important Brazilian breeders and those from other countries, as well as researchers interested in this livestock activity, which is growing in the country, at around 10% per year”, says Caio Vinicius Di Helena Rossato, President of the Association.

Still according to Rossato, Bahia has around 25 thousand buffaloes distributed mainly in the Recôncavo Bahia, South of Bahia, Porto Seguro, Extreme South, North Coast, among others. “Bahia is an excellent place to raise buffaloes for meat and milk. It stands out for its dairy genetics of the Murrah breed and the production of dairy products from buffalo milk. It also produces excellent quality buffalo meat. Buffalo products are widely consumed in the State, 80 tons per month of buffalo cheese and 200 tons per month of buffalo meat”, adds the president of the Brazilian Association of Buffalo Breeders.

ABCB, by delegation from DIPOA – Division of Inspection of Products of Animal Origin, established in 2000 the program called “100% Buffalo Purity Seal” for the labels of products made exclusively with buffalo milk, certifying the origin of the product.

The objective of the program is to guarantee honest competition between products placed on the market, adding value to those made exclusively with the species’ milk, of recognized superior quality, in addition to guaranteeing food safety for consumers of such products.

10:30 am – Departure from the Bufalíssima Dairy.

11:30 am to 1:00 pm – Visit to Fazenda São José – Property of breeder Henrique Tourinho Gomes. Beef buffalo farming (meat production). It uses animals from the Murrah breed and animals from the Jafarabadi x Murrah heterosis.

1:00 pm – Departure from Fazenda São José.

3:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Visit to the Indian Farm – owned by breeder Urbano Antônio Filho. To learn about buffalo milk production and management for dairy animals, on the largest dairy buffalo farm in Bahia.

4:30 pm – Return to the Deville Prime Hotel with scheduled arrival at 6:00 pm.
