A rescuer from the Paraná Fire Department made a tragic discovery when he arrived to help the victims of an accident on a highway in the municipality of Ampére, in the southwest of Paraná.
The accident happened around 7pm on Sunday (27). Upon arriving at the scene, the rescuer discovered that his brother and sister-in-law were among the victims of the accident, according to g1 Paraná.
Paulino Gonçalves de Oliveira, 58, and Janete Matias dos Santos, 51, died instantly.
He worked as a watchman at a daycare center in Ampére, and his wife was a cook at a state school in the city.
The rescuer had to be supported by colleagues who also provided care to the victims. Other rescuers were called.
According to the State Highway Police (PRE), the car in which the couple was traveling was hit by a pickup truck as it left PR–281 to enter PR-182.
After the collision, the two vehicles went over the construction site and ended up hitting another car that was traveling in the opposite direction. The two vehicles fell down an embankment 50 meters from the collision.
A couple and an eight-year-old child, who were in the truck, were rescued with minor injuries. In the third car were the driver and a child, who were not injured.
The causes of the accident are being investigated.
