The body of receptionist dead inside home in Cidade Nova neighborhoodin Salvador, was found under a mattress by a cousin and a friend. Camila Sampaio Rodrigues had been missing for two days and family members found her dead on Tuesday afternoon (22), with stab wounds caused by a knife. “A friend went to the house with another cousin of mine. When he lifted the mattress, the body was there,” says Elaine Santiago, Camila’s cousin.
According to relatives, the main suspect in the murder is Luiz Carlos dos Santos Reis, with whom the victim had a relationship for 4 years and ended around three months ago. They still lived together because the man was unemployed. The suspect is at large and the Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP) is investigating the case.
“He didn’t accept the end of the relationship and didn’t want to leave her house. I didn’t talk much about the relationship with her, but he was very jealous because she was an independent woman”, says Elaine. “I hope this bastard shows up and pays for what he did to my cousin,” he says.
“He didn’t want to leave her house. What’s most upsetting is that it’s a feminicide, another victim because of a man who didn’t accept the end of the relationship”, laments Rogério Gonçalves, Camila’s cousin.
Camila Rodrigues’ burial will take place this Wednesday (23), at 11am, at the Third Order of Saint Franciscno, in Baixa de Quintas.
Victim died after trip with friends
The suspicion of the disappearance began when the victim returned from a trip with her friends in Boipeba, on Sunday night (27). According to the cousin, one of the girls left Camila at the door of the house. After that, she was not seen again. The receptionist even had to pick up the 6-year-old son from his father’s house, but she didn’t go to the location and, in the following days, she didn’t show up for work.
“We started calling on the cell phone, but there was no answer, and the Whatsapp message was only sent, she didn’t receive it. Then we started to get worried”, recalls Elaine. “At the same time, he [Luiz Carlos] he had also disappeared and his numbers showed as non-existent”, he says.
The police are still seeking to clarify the circumstances, authorship and motivation of the crime. Guides for forensic examination and removal of the body were issued.
