João Rebello Fernandes, 45 years old, was shot dead in Trancoso, in the south of Bahia, where he had moved, on the night of last Thursday (24).

João was in a car when two men approached him on a motorcycle and shot him at close range. He died at the scene. The Civil Police are investigating the authorship and motivation of the crime.

João was the nephew of director Jorge Fernando and son of actress and director Maria Rebello. In a publication made in September, the director said that João and his other daughter, actress Maria Carol Rebello, had moved to live in Bahia.

‘My loves, my puppies went to live in Baêa, I miss them here, but I know they are protected by Axé da Bahia’, he wrote.

One of the most notable roles in his career was in the soap opera Bebê a Bordo (1988).

He also stood out in productions such as Vamp (1991), Deus nos Acuda (1992) and Cambalacho (1986).

His last appearances on TV Globo were in the soap opera “Zazá”, in 1997. He participated in Globo’s ‘Divertics’ in 2013.

After leaving his acting career, João worked as DJ Vunje.

João had just over 3 thousand followers on social media, where he shared moments of work around Brazil, Europe, and, especially, in Trancoso.
