Clínica Matteoni will carry out, in partnership with the Brazilian Credit Cooperative System (Sicoob), a free mammogram and PSA test drive. The exam forms will be distributed during a lecture given by Dr Luciana Matteoni this Saturday (26), at 9 am, in the auditorium of the Associação Bahiana de Medicina (ABM), in Ondina.
The lecture will address ways to prevent and early screen breast and prostate cancer, and is open to the public. Those who attend the conversation will receive vouchers valid until the end of the year to take the exams for free at the clinic, located in the Ondina neighborhood. There will be around 200 women and 200 men.
The project is part of the Sicoob program “Prevent: Caring is a Sign of Affection”, which has been in partnership with the Clinic since last year, having also offered free liver elastography exams and endometriosis mapping. This year, the goal is to double the number of mammograms performed.
The exams are aimed at women over 40 who had their last mammogram at least one year ago. After the lecture, they must contact the clinic and schedule the appointment at the most appropriate time.
For patients who are going to undergo PSA measurement, the adequacy criteria are to be over 45 years old, or even 40, in cases with a family history of prostate cancer. Black men will also be able to take the exams even if they are between 40 and 45 years old, as the disease poses a higher risk for this part of the population.
In the case of dosing, it will not be necessary to make an appointment in advance, and you can go to any LPC Laboratory unit to take the exam during opening hours.
The main objective of the project is to assist in early diagnosis by offering exams and also by providing an informative lecture. “The main message of the lecture and event is to raise awareness in our society about the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of breast and prostate cancer, thus significantly increasing the chances of a cure. It’s about ensuring that people who participate in this event can be agents who spread this information”, commented Luciana Matteoni, speaker at the event.

To register, just contact one of the Sicoob agencies at (71) 3838-9339 or (71) 3230-6759.
