International media outlets did not find any Hezbollah bunker or structure in the basement of Al-Sahel Hospital, in Beirut, Lebanon. English media BBC and German media DW were among outlets that visited the hospital after Israel claimed the site was used to hide millions in cash and gold from the Hezbollah group. The management of the health unit denied the accusations.

“Nothing was found,” said the German public media anchor. The reporting team allowed journalists to tour the inside of the hospital. “I can confirm that we did not see any suspicious infrastructure during our stay and during this visit to the hospital,” said reporter Mohamad Chreyteh, adding that at all times he could hear Israeli fighter jets crossing the sky above the hospital.

Following Israel’s accusations, staff and patients were evacuated due to fear of bombings. In the Gaza Strip, hospitals were attacked by Israel on the grounds that they were hiding militant Palestinian resistance groups.

English public media BBC also sent a reporter to Al-Sahel Hospital in Beirut. “The area right behind me is where medical waste is stored. Even that was opened up for us to take a look at. The morgue was opened, all the drawers were opened to show us that there was nothing inside,” said BBC journalist Orla Guerin.

According to the professional, the doctors were eager to show that there was no Hezbollah bunker on site and that the journalists were able to walk around on their own inside the building, without being led by any employee there. “Doors were opened for us in all areas, closets. We were allowed to see what there is to see. Now, hospital staff are adamant that there is no hidden bunker.”

While journalists visited the site, Israeli Army spokesman Nadav Shoshani reported on social media that they were looking in the wrong place and that Hezbollah is probably hiding the entrance to the bunker. “Based on intelligence information, the entrance to the bunker, which stores half a billion dollars in cash and gold, is in this building on the eastern side of the basement,” the Israeli military said.

After this report from Israel, DW reporter Mohamad Chreuteh went to the commercial building next to the hospital and went down a staircase to a parking lot where he also did not find any suspicious structure.

“The parking lot is really empty. There are only a few cars here and there is no access in or out other than the main entrance where we entered here. There is only this room inside the parking lot,” he stated in the report.
