The traditional Pôr do Som, promoted by Daniela Mercury, may return to Barra on New Year’s Eve 2025. This Friday (25), during the delivery of works in Mata Escuta, mayor Bruno Reis (União Brasil) said that he also placed The artist has other days available for the festival, which this year will be from December 27th to 31st. Since it was created 24 years ago, Pôr do Som has been held in the late afternoon of January 1st.

“The 1st fell on a Wednesday, and the Virada Festival lasts five days. To keep the party going until the 1st, it would have to start on Saturday. If it starts on Saturday, I lose tourists to other cities, because all other New Year’s Eve events in Brazil will start on Friday. This was also a demand from Trade Turístico. We invited Daniela to do Pôr do Som any day she wanted at the festival and she is studying the possibility of the city hiring her, instead of the presentation being at the Arena, she will be performing at Farol da Barra. These conversations are ongoing”, explained Bruno Reis.

At the beginning of the week, the mayor confirmed that Léo Santana will perform the New Year’s Eve show on December 31st for January 1st, in Boca do Rio. In recent years, it was Ivete Sangalo who was doing the countdown. Bruno Reis stated that the city hall and the Bahian singer had already agreed that this year she would not make the turn and stressed that despite not counting, Ivete will perform in the first days of the Virada Festival.
