An action by the Military Police, on Saturday afternoon (19), resulted in the dismantling of a car dismantling on Via de Bronze, in the neighborhood of Valéria, in Salvador. The action involved the recovery of a stolen vehicle.

According to police information, officers from the Vehicle Theft and Theft Prevention Police Battalion (BPFRV) received information, during a patrol, that a stolen car dismantling operation was operating in the region.

During the investigation, an abandoned building was discovered with an Ônix model car in the process of being dismantled, as well as several parts from a Versa model vehicle. After searching the systems and analyzing vehicle identification signs, it was found that there were signs of tampering, with the original car subject to theft restrictions.

The vehicle and the recovered parts were presented to the Vehicle Theft and Theft Repression Police Station (DRFRV), where the incident was recorded.

Robbery and theft

Between January and September this year, 13,172 vehicles were stolen or stolen in Bahia. The number is lower than that recorded last year, but it still worries Bahians. The police reported that they work on two fronts to prevent this type of crime: arresting criminals and dismantling reception areas.

In total, 8,325 vehicles were stolen in the state. There are 1,452 fewer cases than the 9,777 registered last year, which corresponds to a 15% reduction. Another 4,847 vehicles were stolen in Bahia, 3.6% less than the 5,027 registered in 2023.

The Secretary of Public Security, Marcelo Werner, listed actions that the police have adopted to curb crime, such as the creation of the Robbery and Vehicle Repression Battalion and the Specialized Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic) created in the restructuring of the institution.

“Based on this confluence of information, local analysis and the identification of specialized gangs, we have been working. In addition, we are working at reception sites, at the final recipients of these stolen and stolen vehicles, and we have a robust work plan to continue to reduce these crimes”, he explained.
