A plane crashed near the Parnamirim Air Base, in the metropolitan region of Natal, in Rio Grande do Norte, in the early afternoon of this Tuesday, 22nd.
The information was confirmed by the Military Fire Department, activated by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) to contain the flames in the vegetation caused by the aircraft’s kerosene. There is still no information about victims or the cause of the accident.
Moments before the crash, other planes were seen training in the region. Cruzex, a multinational operational exercise, is scheduled for the period from November 3rd to 15th. On this occasion, military personnel and aircraft from countries in South America, Europe and North America participate in war simulations with different models of fighters. In addition to Brazil, there are participants from 14 other countries.
According to FAB officials interviewed by Estadão, the aircraft involved in the accident took part in operations related to Cruzex. When contacted, the Air Force has not yet confirmed where the aircraft was from.
