Daughter of Vitória’s idol, singer Ana Petkovic held a photoshoot in Vidigal, Rio de Janeiro, to launch her funk career. Born in Madrid, but raised in Brazil, Ana also recently obtained her citizenship in the country.

“From an early age, Brazil welcomed me with a passion that only those who live there understand. I grew up seeing my father cheered in stadiums, and it was in this energy that I fell in love with Brazilian culture and music. It was a very bureaucratic process to issue my new documentation, but now I am officially Brazilian and I can guarantee that I will reverse all this happiness that I am experiencing for my fans in my new releases, I want to take Brazilian culture to other countries and show what there’s the best around here”, said the singer to Quem magazine.

The 27-year-old artist launched herself into music in 2017, with a project focused on MPB. However, in her most recent work, titled “Lâmia”, the singer ventured into the rhythm of funk. On the instrumental side, she also plays the piano and guitar. To promote the turning point in her career, the daughter of the former Serbian player did a photo shoot in the south zone of Rio de Janeiro.

“I really wanted this shoot to be more than just aesthetics, but a way of showing the respect and admiration I have for this culture. I worked with local professionals who know this reality closely, and the support I received from the Vidigal staff was incredible. I’ve been working with artists from the region for a while, and there was no better place or time to do this. It was more than six hours of intense production, a lot of hands-on work, and I loved every second of it!”, said Ana.
