The Spanish team would send a delegation of 50 people to the French capital, for the award ceremony. However, the club reportedly received information that Vini Jr. would not be the winner of the award and decided to organize a boycott of the event. No players from the squad will attend the event.

Considered the big favorite for the award, Vini Jr. won the Spanish Championship and the Champions League in the last European season with the Madrid team. Many Spanish newspapers already highlighted the Brazilian’s victory in the award.

The supposed winner of this year’s Ballon d’Or would be Spanish midfielder Rodri, who was part of the squad that won this year’s European Championship and was considered the best player of the edition. Organized by France Football magazine, the award this time received support from UEFA, which organizes the European national team tournament.
