Ten cell phones were seized in a pavilion at the Feira de Santana Penal Complex where five drug trafficking leaders are being held, this Friday (25), as part of Operation Angerona. Carried out by the Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration and Resocialization (Seap), the operation completed five days of actions in the municipality.

In addition to cell phones, dozens of electronic devices and accessories were seized during the operation, which aims to prevent communication between inmates and criminals outside the prison complex.

The cell phones were not seized in the cells of the criminal leaders, but in prisons in the same pavilion – two of them in cells neighboring those held for drug trafficking. In the cells of criminals responsible for murder, kidnapping, drug trafficking and robbery, no illicit materials were found.

In the other prisons, in addition to the eight cell phones, 12 telephone chips, eight cell phone chargers, seven memory cards, 26 pendrive adapters and portions of substances similar to narcotics were found.

According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), all seized material will be sent for inspection by the Technical Police Department (DPT) and investigations will be carried out to identify who had the seized objects and how they reached those in custody.

Operation Angerona is coordinated by the Prison Management Superintendency (SGP), with the work of the Prison Security Directorate (DSP), the Specialized Group in Prison Operations (GEOP), the Electronic Personnel Monitoring Center (CMEP), Monitoring Coordination and Assessment of the Prison System (CMASP), Institutional Security Group (GSI).

Also participating in the actions are the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), through the Military Police, the Public Ministry of Bahia (MP-BA) and the National Secretariat for Penal Policies (Senappen).
