Lawyers Rodrigo Gonçalves, son of judge Sideni Soncini Pimentel, and Fabio Castro Leandro, son of judge Paschoal Carmello Leandro, were drawn into Operation Última Ratio, which investigates suspicions of the sale of judicial decisions at the Court of Justice of Mato Grosso do Sul, after receiving bank transfers from lawyer Emmanuelle Alves Ferreira da Silva, convicted in the first and second instances of embezzlement. She was arrested in 2018, but managed to reverse her conviction in the Superior Court of Justice (STJ).

A company linked to Rodrigo Gonçalves, Ipe Assessoria e Consultoria, received R$275,000. R$105,000 were transferred to Fabio Leandro. Estadão seeks contact with the defenses.

The Federal Police (PF) suspect that the money was passed on to the judges’ children as payment for decisions that favored the lawyer and would allow her to receive R$5.5 million using false documents.

The judges’ children are named in the investigation as intermediaries in the alleged scheme. The decisions in question were not signed by his parents. These are decisions by judge Paulo Afonso de Oliveira, from the 2nd Civil Court of Campo Grande, and by judge Júlio Roberto Siqueira Cardoso, retired.

The Federal Police claims that the judge and judge were “corrupted to unduly favor the lawyer”.

“The actions of such magistrates in the aforementioned processes are, in our view, so absurd that they were hardly errors, but rather conscious actions that they were participating in a fraud of more than R$5 million, pointing out that they ‘sold’ their decisions and who committed a crime of passive corruption”, maintains the PF in its representation to the STJ for the opening of Operation Ultima Ratio.

Judge Júlio Roberto Siqueira Cardoso was the target of searches in Operation Ultima Ratio, Thursday, 24th. In his home, the feds found almost R$3 million in cash. The PF suspects that the money comes from bribes.

Lawyer Emmanuelle Alves Ferreira da Silva is married to judge Aldo Ferreira da Silva Júnior, who was compulsorily retired by the Court of Justice of Mato Grosso do Sul on suspicion of corruption.

The Estadão report seeks contact with lawyer Emmanuel Ferreira da Silva, judge Aldo Ferreira da Silva Júnior, judge Júlio Roberto Siqueira Cardoso and lawyers Rodrigo Gonçalves and Fábio Castro Leandro. The space is open for demonstrations
