If you don’t yet have access to Meta AI on WhatsApp, some measures can be taken. Firstly, make sure you have the latest version of WhatsApp installed on your device.

As the release is gradual, you may have to wait a few days or weeks until the tool is available on your device. In the meantime, you can access Meta AI on the web via the Meta website.

How to use Meta AI on WhatsApp

When Meta AI is available on your WhatsApp, you can access it through the icon in the application’s search bar, represented by a blue and purple circle. By clicking on the icon, you will open a conversation with the AI.

Meta guarantees that Meta AI was developed with a focus on user privacy and security, where conversations are encrypted and shared data is not used for advertising or other unauthorized purposes. Still, experts raise concerns about privacy, particularly about the use of data for AI training.

The tool is also being integrated with other Meta platforms, such as Instagram and Facebook. On Instagram, AI can be accessed through direct messages (DMs) and searches. On Facebook, artificial intelligence is available in several features, such as direct messages, searches and the news feed.

Meta AI works in a similar way to other generative AI chatbots, such as ChatGPT, from OpenAI, and Gemini, from Google, interacting with users through natural language. AI’s main functionalities include answering questions and providing information on a variety of topics, generating different types of creative content such as texts, translations and scripts, and creating images from textual descriptions using the “Imagine” feature.

The tool also helps with communication, such as suggesting responses to messages and comments, offering personalized recommendations, such as restaurants, places to visit and products, and summarizing texts and conversations. Additionally, it translates languages ​​in real time, creates multiple-choice tests for studying, generates aesthetic reference boards for decoration and design, and provides information about posts in the Facebook feed

Despite the capabilities mentioned, the platform is still in the experimental phase and may present flaws as demonstrated by Estadão.

In tests, the artificial intelligence “hallucinated”, creating non-existent characters for Turma da Mônica and making a simple mathematical operation wrong. When contacted, Meta stated that the flaws in the tool were expected. “When we announced our generative artificial intelligence capabilities, we said this new technology would not be perfect.”
