This Tuesday, the 22nd, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva underwent a new examination at the Sírio-Libanês Hospital in Brasília for reevaluation after suffering a fall last Saturday, the 19th. According to the medical bulletin, the imaging examination is stable and the head of the federal Executive is “able” to carry out his work routine.
“The imaging exam is stable compared to the previous one, with a plan to carry out a new control exam in 72 hours. He is able to carry out his work routine”, records the medical bulletin released at 1 pm.
According to the document, the president remains under the supervision of the medical team, under the care of Prof. Dr. Roberto Kalil Filho and Dr. Ana Helena Germoglio. The note is signed by Dr. Rafael Gadia, Director of Clinical Governance, and Dr. Luiza Dib, Clinical Director.
The head of the federal Executive was admitted to the Sírio-Libanês Hospital in Brasília on Saturday night. He had a trip scheduled to Kazan, in Russia, to participate in the 16th BRICS Summit, scheduled to depart on Sunday, the 20th, and return on Thursday, the 24th. On medical advice, Lula canceled the trip and will only participate in the meeting by videoconference.
The president fell in the bathroom of Palácio da Alvorada, the official residence of the presidency, late Saturday afternoon, after returning from São Paulo, where he participated in a live broadcast with the PSOL candidate, Guilherme Boulos. The president was taken to the Sírio unit in the federal capital where his head wound was treated. He received three stitches at the scene. After medical care, the president was released to return to Alvorada.
The PT member has been away from the official presidency since Monday, the 21st, when he had work schedules. This Tuesday, the 22nd, Lula continues working at Alvorada and, at 9:30 am, he had a phone call with the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin. At 3pm, a meeting is scheduled with the ministers of the Civil House, Rui Costa, and of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira.
Yesterday, part of Lula’s conversation with the PT candidate for mayor of Camaçari, Luiz Caetano, was published on social media. In the phone call, the head of the federal Executive said that the accident he suffered was “serious”, but that it did not affect “not even a more delicate part”. According to the PT member, doctors asked to wait three to four days to be able to calculate the consequences of the blow to the head.
“I’m fine. I had an accident here, but it was stupid of me. It was serious but it didn’t affect any more delicate parts. I’m taking care of it because anything in the head is very strong, right?”, said Lula.
“I’m waiting, because the doctors say I have to wait at least 3 or 4 days for them to know what damage the crash caused,” he added. “I need to survive to go to your inauguration”, joked the PT member with the candidate.
