Marta is outraged by Vini Jr’s supposed defeat: ‘What Ballon d’Or is this?’
Brazilian national team star complained about France Football magazine award

Vini Jr.’s supposed defeat in the Ballon d’Or outraged Marta. Voted the best player in the world six times, the number 10 made an outburst on social media, and stated that he waited a year to see his compatriot win, but that now that may not happen. Then, the Brazilian national team star questioned the award from France Football magazine.
“I waited all year to see Vini Jr recognized as the best player today. Now you’re telling me that they won’t give him the Ballon d’Or? What Ballon d’Or is this?”, demanded Marta.
The awards ceremony takes place this Monday (28), in Paris. Vini Jr. was considered the big favorite, but he will not attend the event after learning that he will not win the award, which should be given to midfielder Rodri, from Manchester City.
Real Madrid had a huge party prepared for the Brazilian’s possible victory and, according to Spanish newspaper Marca, they would take 50 people to the prize. But, given the situation, the trip was cancelled. Apart from Vini, no other player or member of the Spanish club’s coaching staff will go to the Théâtre du Châtelet, the venue for the ceremony.
“If the award criteria do not designate Vinicius as the winner, these same criteria should designate Carvajal as the winner. As this was not the case, it is obvious that the UEFA Ballon d’Or does not respect Real Madrid,” said the club, in a statement to press.
