Presentation by the singer from Salvador pays homage to black Brazilian music

Márcia Short, a singer from Salvador leading Banda Mel, presents a free solo show this Thursday (24), in Salvador, at 9pm, at Largo Tereza Batista, in Pelourinho.
In a show titled “Portal Black”, the singer considered the diva of samba reggae and a pioneering voice of the rhythm in the country, celebrates her ancestry, her music and black Brazilian culture.
Known for her versatility, Márcia Short will also sing MPB, in Axé and Forró, taking advantage of the moment to bring to the public songs that are part of her life and career.
“It’s identity and representation. The project aims to exalt the voices and artists of MPB – Música Preta Brasileira with reinterpretations of great hits in the repertoire”, highlights the artist.
The repertoire includes classics such as “Zumbi” (Jorge Ben), “Respeitem meu cabelos, pretas” (Chico César), “Mulher Negra” (Gerônimo Santana), “Charles Ilê” (Carlinhos Brown Ilê Aiyê) and “Banho de Folhas ” (Luedji Luna), in addition to “Raiz de Todo Bem” (Saulo Fernandes) and “Retratos e Canções” (Michael Sullivan and Paulo Massadas). From Banda Mel, “Crença e Fé”, written by Beto Jamaica, also makes part of the setlist.
“Portal Black” was presented for the first time in November 2019, in Pelourinho. During the pandemic, the show took on a live format, with two performances in 2021. This year, the project was an attraction at the Spring Festival, in Campo Grande.
