At least seven people suffered head injuries

A fight between fans of Mancha Alvi Verde, from Palmeiras, and Máfia Azul, from Cruzeiro, on Rodovia Fernão Dias, at km 65, towards Belo Horizonte, ended with the death of a fan. The victim was identified as José Victor Miranda, 30 years old.

The attack occurred at around 5 am this Sunday (27), near the Mairiporã tunnel, in the interior of São Paulo, and left at least seven victims injured with head trauma, all of them Cruzeiro fans. The information comes from the Federal Highway Police (PRF).

Videos circulating on social media show one of the buses on fire and fans armed with sticks, bleeding and lying on the highway.

According to the PRF, a Cruzeiro fans’ bus, which was returning from a game against Athletico-PR, in Curitiba, was intercepted by Palmeiras fans, who were returning from a match, held in the capital of São Paulo, against Fortaleza.

The victims – whose names have not yet been released – were taken to Anjo Gabriel Hospital, in Mairiporã. So far no one has been arrested.

According to Arteris, the highway concessionaire, the lane was closed from 5:14 am to 6:30 am for the safety of users and employees. Teams from firefighters, the Federal Highway Police and the Military Police were called to respond to the incident. The concessionaire reported that the track was reopened and there were no closures.
