The investigation into Liam Payne’s death began to be led by Argentine prosecutor Andrés Madrea this week, with attention to the singer’s father, Geoff Payne. The former member of the band One Direction died last Wednesday, 16, at the age of 31, after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The Argentine Public Ministry reported that it met with Geoff Payne and assured him that toxicological tests had not yet been released, refuting reports that there were drugs in the singer’s system.
“The representative of the Public Prosecutor’s Office informed the father that the toxicological and histopathological tests complementary to the autopsy have not yet been completed, and that their results are necessary to decide on the release of the body”, says a statement.
The note also says that Payne’s father “expressed his desire for it to be investigated and known what actually happened and expressed his willingness to testify about everything he knows about his son’s life that could help in the investigation.”
The Attorney General’s Office also said that its representative informed the musician’s father that he considered the Payne family’s privacy a priority. The information was published on the institutional portal, fiscal.gob.ar.
