Barcelona’s jewel, Lamine Yamal was named the best under-21 player in the world this Monday (28). The Kopa trophy was awarded to the player during the Ballon d’Or award at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.

In second and third place were Arda Güller (Real Madrid) and Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United). Brazilian Savinho, a winger for Manchester City and the Brazilian team, was in fourth place.

Lamine Yamal was the youngest player in history to win the award, being the only minor to receive the award. Having just turned 17 in July, the winger rose to prominence last season after being one of the protagonists in Spain’s European Cup-winning campaign.
