Democratic White House candidate Kamala Harris said she would take a cognitive test and challenged Republican rival Donald Trump to do the same. The US vice president’s comment came in an interview with CBS News, in response to Trump’s insults made against Harris in a podcast, suggesting that the Democrat should take the test to prove intelligence and sanity.
“I believe that Trump is increasingly unstable and has chosen to offend because he has no real plans for the American population,” said Harris. “The reasons why he is unqualified to be president of the United States do not need to be said by me, just listen to people who know him best and who worked with him in the previous administration,” he added.
The Democrat acknowledged that the presidential election should be “close”, but said she sees “enthusiasm” around her campaign and that she plans to “deserve every vote”. Despite her criticism of her Republican rival, the vice president reiterated that she is against “any type of political violence.”
Asked about her plans for the first 100 days of government, if she wins the election, Harris highlighted her priorities as reducing prices and the cost of living for Americans, initiating tax reforms, expanding border control measures to deal with immigration and ensuring the security of reproductive rights in Congress.
