The Democratic candidate and vice president of the United States, Kamala Harris, declared this Wednesday, 23, that she believes that her rival Donald Trump is a fascist, during a hearing on the American broadcaster CNN. The Democrat’s statement was made after a former collaborator of the Republican candidate stated that he allegedly praised Adolf Hitler.

“Do you believe that Donald Trump is a fascist?” asked journalist Anderson Cooper, during the program recorded in Pennsylvania, in which Kamala answered questions from 32 undecided voters. “Yes, I do,” Kamala responded to the question.

The statement was a reaction to comments by Trump’s former chief of staff John Kelly, a retired Marine Corps general, in interviews with The New York Times and The Atlantic magazine published on Tuesday, 22, warning that the nominee republican fits the definition of a fascist and that, while in office, he suggested that the Nazi leader “did some good things.”

Kamala said these comments offer insight into who the former president “really is” and the kind of commander in chief he would be. She later returned to the subject, saying that Trump, if elected again, would be “a president who admires dictators and is a fascist.” Before the interview, she had already harshly attacked her Republican rival for the same statements.

The vice president said she believes Trump is “increasingly unstable and unfit to serve in office” in response to the first question, which was about what she would say to voters to convince them why they shouldn’t support her Republican rival, and described Kelly’s comments as an “emergency call to the people.”

Trump’s campaign team declared that the Democrat “is increasingly desperate as her campaign is collapsing.” “That’s why she continues to spread lies and blatant falsehoods that are easy to refute,” spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement.
