Julieta Amaral, journalist who became known for her work at RBS TV, an affiliate of Rede Globo in Rio Grande do Sul, died at the age of 62 this Saturday, the 26th.

She had recently been undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer. The information was published in Jornal do Almoço, the broadcaster’s news program, in the early afternoon.

Julieta Amaral started working at RBS in 1987, at around 25 years of age, and attracted attention when she became an anchor for Jornal do Almoço, becoming the first black anchor of a news program in Rio Grande do Sul. She had left the broadcaster in 2015, and later dedicated herself to work in press relations and social causes.
